Starting Monday, Jan. 19, renovations of the 911 center at the Livingston County sheriff’s department will begin and all emergency calls will be routed to the Chillicothe Police Department.
According to Sheriff Steve Cox, Case Contracting, AT&T and other vendors will be working in the dispatch office for a few weeks removing equipment, refurbishing the office and installing new equipment.
Cox said that the LCSD will not have normal inmate visitation during the renovation period. Anyone needing information or to access the office is urged to call the LCSD first so that officials may better serve them. "Our office will be on restricted access during this time,” Cox said, adding that an LCSD dispatcher will still monitor the radios, dispatch and answer all calls on the department’s regular telephone lines.
In 2008, the Livingston County commissioners voted to replace the 911 equipment at the LCSD and to permanently have all the 911 calls routed through the LCSD’s 911 center instead of providing and paying for duplicate services both at the LCSD and across the street at the Chillicothe Police Department. |
